  • The dock is a special start-bar for applications and folders.

dock 1
The Dock contains aliases. To add items to the dock, simply drag them to the appropriate location. Left of the adjustment bar is where applications go; right of the adjustment bar is for folders.

dock 2
Any applications that are running show up with a triangle under them.
dock 3
The bar that divides the application side of the dock from the folder side is a size adjuster. Click and drag up or down to change the size of the dock.

dock 4
The trash icon shows whether the trash is full or empty.

This bizarre symbol launches your default browser and links to the Apple/MacOSX site to lear more about OS-X.
  • If the dock is not visible, move the cursor to the bottom of the screen.
  • There are several dock options in System Preferences.
